Our Story

Like every young couple, we have quite a story. But you know how it goes, the story varies as the teller changes. So here they are: Our story from Us and two dear friends who have seen us from the very beginning till now. Its no fairytale. But these two little beating hearts, every time they are told, goes racing back to the days.

-- Suman and Kasturi.

It was a typical summer day in 2006. I was in IIT Kharagpur for project. My friend (roomie too) Jineta wanted to meet her friend from a past program. He came along with a few other friends. At first I hardly noticed them but then I found one of them staring at me. Trying to escape the attention I made myself busy on phone.

Few days later one morning he showed up with a flower, and then a painting and then just 3 golden words. I did not even know when it all happened. Time passed and Its been five years since we met but I feel its all still fresh and young. My best friend and my biggest critique at the same time! I am glad I found him and fell in love.

Years passed and then this summer on our 4th Anniversary I woke up with a pleasant surprise. A beautiful ring waiting for me... It took me a few seconds to grasp what is happening. Then it struck me and I could not have been more happier.

It was a warm but pleasant summer evening in 2006. Our dear friend Anirban walked into my room, "Hey, I am going to meet a friend of mine at Chilis, you want to join?"

She was sweet, cute and friendly. Jineta was Anirban's friend. Along came Poly. I mean Kasturi. The quiet one. Did not talk at all. Received a phone call. I thought "Ah, another uptight city girl". Who knew then, years later it will be me who will keep her on the phone for hours.

She always complains about how I teased her. For virtually everything. We met again, we walked, we talked and we shared. Before I knew it, I was all lost. Time was tough and I had to leave country. We lived on, loved on. And here we are, at the dawn of a new life.

The summer of 2006, I was all set for gaining some research expertise at IIT (Kgp). Little did I know that I would be granted a chance to play Cupid at the same time! As I packed my bags at the lab one evening after a tiring day of work (pun intended), I dragged my roomie Kasturi to meet one of my friends for coffee(or juice?) at Chillies. Well my friend showed up with his whole "paltan" of friends and one amongst them caught my roomie's eye. After that evening, in the midst of numerous dinners at DL, walks around the GolC, and endless nightouts, the two hearts met and fell in love! Those two months went by in a whirlwind! But the true test was yet to come! Suman left for the US for higher studies and the two hearts tried hard to keep the flame strong even through the "space-time continuum" (read different time zones and a large Atlantic sea and a big thanks to skype!). And they did it! Since that summer of 2006, a lot of time has passed by. But the flame in these two hearts still seem to be burning with the same gusto as that summer! And I hope that it burns all their life! And if it ever needs the help of a "clueless cupid", you know where to find me! :P

I hate the fact that how all love stories bloom behind my back and I am the last one to know. This one was no exception as well. I know the groom from high school but the bride only came to the picture when it was summer of 2006. I heard it all happened in a flash. Lovestruck, as soon as the boy saw her for the first time, took out a red rose from his back pocket ( the rose he always used to keep handy for emergencies like this, I mean meeting the dream-girl in reality), and proposed her. And for the girl, she was so overwhelmed by all these, even before she realized what's happening, the charm of the boy did her in. By the time I heard this story they were enjoying their courtship :). The story might look a little spiced up but the way Suman used to be all happy and high and halu at that time, I have all the reason to believe it. Now I am really happy that they have decided to tie the knot. I am sure this is just the beginning of a wonderful journey. I wish them all the happiness in life. They are the best :) :D--- Jayanta
